Dementia treatment is amazing in Thailand
Re: Dementia treatment is amazing in Thailand
well, I'd say that title is for those who can afford premium care. I have a Thai friend whose mother has Alzheimers. She checked out a lot of private care providers here in the northeast and found them totally wanting. She ended up getting a 2 bedroom apartment and hired a full time caregiver who also was a long time family friend. So, that worked out fine. For your average Thai, dementia or Alzheimer's means family care at best, if there is a family available. A lady we knew in the village started wandering about causing her family to lock her up in the house. Another lady who's husband has early Alzheimer's can still keep him occupied walking in the park and in organized activities. Overall though, with the aging population and much smaller families there is an impending major problem coming with elder care of all types.
